A momentum needs to be built on the issue of the safety of the OPV. There has to be call for a detailed study on why the OPV reacts in such a manner in some isolated cased. In Nigeria too, we suffer from the same problem. VDPV has hit us hard whereas there are cases of Children falling ill immediately after taking the vaccine. The right thing would be more research. In the end, one has to weigh the benefits and the risks. If the incidences of risk are very low then we should accept it and move forward.

Terrible. No reason or excuse for a child, or any person to suffer from polio in 2008.
